Werner PowerLink℠: Q&A with a Power Only Team Member

Mar 27, 2024 | Carriers

Welcome to our Q&A session with Krystal, a Power Only representative at Werner. With a passion for the transportation and logistics industry, Krystal brings invaluable insights into the nuances of our Power Only operations. She’ll answer some of our most frequently asked questions below!

What do you do at Werner?

I started with Werner two years ago. Today, I am a project manager on the Werner PowerLink℠ team. I work with our carrier operations representatives to help find our alliance carriers the right power only solutions to fit their needs.

What’s your favorite part about working at Werner?

My favorite part about working at Werner is the people and the atmosphere. Our team has a great work environment where we like to have fun and genuinely enjoy what we do.

How does Werner strive to help carriers?

At Werner, we value the carriers in our network and equip them with valuable opportunities and the chance to thrive in the trucking industry. As a carrier ourselves, founded by a professional driver, Werner truly cares about those we work with and strives to help them grow their business.

Why should carriers consider Werner PowerLink℠?

Werner PowerLink℠ creates a culture of collaboration by using the carrier’s power unit plus Werner’s asset capabilities. Werner PowerLink℠ carriers have access to consistent freight and Werner’s network of 30,000 trailers, which can save a lot of time and money.

What type of carrier is the ideal PowerLink℠ carrier?

Carriers who are no longer interested in the headache of booking their own spot freight without a plan each day and would prefer a more organized approach to load planning and assignments may be interested in joining our team.

At Werner, we have a wide range of customer freight and our network can fit most drivers/carriers from a team to a regional runner.

In order to become a carrier with Werner, interested individuals must go through our onboarding process. To get approved, they will need to meet the specific criteria outlined on the onboarding web page.

What makes a carrier successful?

Generally, each customer has their own unique requirements, which include appointment numbers, loading times, specific scorecard metrics and more. Ultimately, we value safety and service above all at Werner. With over 68 years in the industry, it’s extremely important for us to uphold those values.

Carriers who can communicate effectively are by far the most successful. In return, we hold our Werner PowerLink℠ department and our associates accountable. Our team strives to provide the best carrier experience possible and aims to deliver beyond expectations.

Currently, what type of opportunities do we have open for carriers?

Werner PowerLink℠ offers a wide range of carrier opportunities. Our fleet mix consists of regional and 48-state solo and team driving opportunities to fit most driver preferences.

In addition, we have dedicated lanes in the west and southern markets, with a vision to continue expanding our dedicated footprint as more opportunities arise.

Does Werner offer any additional perks to carriers?

Werner offers a carrier rewards program to qualifying carriers. This includes a fuel savings program, free quick pay and more.
