CARB Compliance
As a carrier ourselves, we understand the unique challenges you face and want to be a resource for your business. Many of you are familiar with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and have had to previously navigate through its regulations and requirements. Compliance with CARB is crucial for carriers to avoid penalties and maintain operational efficiency.
Effective October 1, 2023, all carriers are mandated to adhere to the Clean Truck Check (CTC), formerly known as the Heavy-Duty Inspection and Maintenance Regulation. This program requires carriers to register in the CTC-VIS system, which is different from any other systems used prior to the aforementioned date. Please note that there is a $30 registration fee per vehicle. The program continues through January 1, 2025, with specific testing requirements to obtain a CTC Certificate.
Brokers can only arrange transportation within California through motor carriers with compliant vehicles or fleets and who comply with the record-keeping requirements. Brokers must verify a copy of the vehicle’s CTC Compliance Certificate or an affirmation of fleet wide compliance obtained within 12 months of dispatch.
