Werner Logistics – Looking Back at 2020 and Into 2021

Jan 12, 2021 | Logistics

The phrase “change is inevitable” took a whole new meaning in 2020. Among factory closures, driver and inventory shortages, panic buying and surges, 2020 was a year full of disruption. During this unprecedented time, the nation depended on the work of professional truck drivers, maintenance crews and office associates to Keep America Moving. Transportation and logistics employees worked tirelessly to deliver PPE and essential supplies to stores all across the country. Throughout this dynamic year, these associates stayed extremely busy as the freight demand continued to rise with record-breaking volumes. And thanks to Team Blue, various products were delivered safely and on-time all over North America.

Despite the obstacles in 2020, many important lessons were learned, so we asked our most valuable asset, our people, pieces of wisdom that they acquired throughout the year.

“It is important to be nimble or flexible. Those that are will come out more successful in the end.” – Lisa W., Omaha, Nebraska

“Don’t take things for granted. Stay close to your loved ones. We are all better people for going through this together.” – Angie G., Omaha

“Build relationships that aren’t dependent on convenience. Being separated from friends, family, and co-workers have shown the value of having strong connections when things aren’t ideal.” – Jimmy L., Phoenix

“There is good in all things, even in situations that seem bad.” – Metou N., Omaha

“We are all going to have moments of acceptance when it comes to different situations, and then moments of frustration with situations, but resiliency is so incredibly important.” – Amy G., Omaha

As we enter 2021, the focus remains around our talent, customers and carriers. Even though 2020 had its numerous sets of challenges, there’s still a lot to celebrate and a lot to look forward to in 2021. Our associates also shared some goals they have for the new year.

“To read more and further focus on my professional development through books or classes that Werner offers.” – Gibran G., Mexico City

“My goals are to appreciate the small things daily and to have a ‘gratitude approach’ on life.” – Ken D., Atlanta

“Continue to help grow employee development and expand Vancouver’s customer and carrier footprint.” – MK K., Vancouver, Washington

“To focus on health by cleaning up my diet and getting in better shape. Professionally, I want to exceed my sales goals.” – Blake H., Atlanta

“I would like to continue to read more books and autobiographies to help me expand my worldview. I want to be there for my family and support my community. I am excited for what the new year will bring.” – Katy W., Omaha

At Werner Enterprises, we’re incredibly thankful for our entire team for rising to the occasion and for being apart of a culture that stood its ground during a time that was challenging for many. Thank you to our customers and carriers for their continued relationship and confidence in Team Blue during a volatile time. 2021 is a year of opportunity, excitement and hope. We look forward to your continued support in this new year.
