Driver Orientation
At Werner, technology is an industry leading way of life! Orientation is a paid two-day, fast paced informative format, consisting of an onsite instructor utilizing a computer-based course. You will be introduced to Company Policy, Federal Regulations, a generous benefits program and the only driver friendly, proprietary paperless log system approved by the Federal Highway Administration.
Paperless Logs Only at Werner
On June 10, 1998, Werner became the first truckload carrier to be authorized by the Federal Highway Administration to implement paperless log system. This new system replaces the traditional paper logbooks used by truckers to record their work hours and activities. Many entries are made automatically for drivers from the information transmitted from the trucks via satellite. Drivers no longer have to draw lines or manually calculate the work hours available in their eight-day work period. Without the hassle of completing paper logbooks, our drivers can focus on driving.
Onboard Satellite Communications
All of our trucks are equipped with satellite communication capability from QualcommTM. This enables our drivers to communicate with their dispatcher and receive load information anywhere. Also, with this technology, drivers and families can keep in touch with In-Cab e-mail and phone mail. In addition, Werner is the only trucking company authorized to use satellite location information to eliminate the "driver paper log book hassle" and to automatically create paperless logs.

Personal messages are routed directly to you - not through a dispatcher. With access worldwide to anyone with an e-mail address, friends and family can reach you anytime from anywhere 24 hours a day.
Phone E-Mail
No computer, no problem. Friends and family can access the system with a toll-free number and send preprogrammed e-mail messages directly to the driver's cab.
Voice Mail
Friends and family leave messages by calling a toll-free number. Drivers hear messages anytime by calling this toll-free number.

When it comes to assigning a load to a driver, the Drivers' home-time needs, productivity and safety are Werner's main concern. Werner's computerized decision support system assists experienced load planners to ensure every load and every driver are an optimum match for the driver and the customer. Werner's systems and staff are designed and trained to work for the driver, to increase miles and productivity and to position drivers in areas to get drivers home on time.
