Position Description: OTR Driver, Truckload

MAJOR DUTIES:
- Transport and deliver freight over long distances in a safe, efficient, timely and legal manner.
- Hook and unhook trailers: secure freight; install and remove tire chains as required by weather; tarp and untarp freight if operating flatbeds.
- Load and unload trailers and perform frequent lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying of freight.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and maintain records required under State and Federal laws and regulations.
- Ensure that all operations are in compliance with State and Federal laws and Regulations.
- Represent the Company and the Trucking Industry in a professional manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Commercial Driver's License
- 1 year previous tractor/trailer driving experience (unless applying as a student driver).
- Knowledge of all applicable DOT Regulations and Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
- Meet all medical and safety standards required by the DOT and pass required drug/alcohol test.
- Able to be away from home for extended periods of time, available for round-the-clock trips
and able to remain alert while driving for periods of up to 11 hours.
- Able to squat, crouch and reach as needed to handle freight; able to enter and exit the vehicle's cab numerous times each day.
- Able to push freight up to 1,000 lbs. on a dolly or cart and able to move freight up to 125 lbs. with or without mechanical aid.
- Able to frequently carry freight from 1 to 125 lbs.
- Able to load and unload full trailers of freight weighing up to 50,000 lbs.
- Able to install and remove tire chains, hook and unhook trailers, secure freight.
- For Flatbeds, able to handle special equipment including chains, straps, tarps, tiedowns, etc.
